Silver Gate Yacht Club is known for its friendly atmosphere and wide variety of club activities.

Every month the club entertains with fine dining, dancing, and parties for special occasions like Valentines, Saint Patrick's Day, Opening Day, the Commodores Ball, New Years Eve and much more.

The Silver Gate Yacht Club has hosted a Wheelchair Regatta for the physically disabled every year since 1960. Fifty one years ago this year  it began as a harbor cruise. Today it is the model for this type of event worldwide, and a major event on San Diego Bay.

SGYC host the annual Make-A-Wish Foundation® Tuna Challenge to benefit the San Diego Chapter Make-A-Wish Foundation. event raised over $340,000 last year for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
